The National League Central is shaping up to be a division that now features some of the best teams in the league but also now some of the best pitchers.  With the Chicago Cubs trading for Rich Harden and the Milwaukee Brewers acquiring C.C. Sabathia, it is making the division that much harder.  Previous seasons always show this division to be one of the hardest to win and this year will be no different.  The Chicago Cubs currently hold a lead over the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers but all three teams have been hot with almost no room for error.  These teams will play each other a bunch in the next coming weeks and it will be very hard to seperate themselves from one another and fans are looking forward to an eventful rest of the season. 

C. C. Sabathia was in superb touch last Friday evening as he made short work of the Cincinnati Reds hitters with his amazing pitching skills that earned him 11 strike outs in eight innings and thereby sealed a 6-1 victory for the Reds. One of sports leading ace is heading for free agency after this 2008 season and the Indians general manager Mark Shapiro is determined to have his ace pitcher in the team for the next season as well. Sabathia is for now concentrating on his game entirely and wants to keep on winning games for the Indians this entire season. The Indians fans are buying tickets for future games in anticipation of more stupendous performance from Sabathia.

The Pittsburgh Pirates were overjoyed by their victory over New York Yankees last Tuesday night as this is the first win since the 60 World Series that the Pirates have registered over the Yankees at their own backyard. The margin of victory (12-5) will also be a welcome sight for the Pirates fans and this stupendous win was achieved courtesy of home runs by Ryan Doumit and Jose Bautista. The Pirates hitters were on song for the entire game and they took an unassailable lead of 7-1 by the end of the fifth inning. The Pirates fans, seeing the tide change in their favor, will be rushing to book their tickets for future games well in advance. 

The Cincinnati Reds enjoyed every bit of their first game at the Yankee stadium in 32 years and the outcome of this game was that the Yankees were toppled by the Reds 4-2 at home. Edinson Volquez was in total control of his pitching during the entire game and allowed only two runs and seven hits in seven innings. He also struck out five and had one player walked last Friday night. Volquez is very happy with his first pitching efforts at the Yankees Stadium and is hoping for even better showings in the future games at the Stadium. The Reds win after a series of five loses have made the funs rushing to the ticket counters to book their tickets for the forthcoming games.

The San Francisco Giants at last had something for the home fans to cheer about as they beat the Detroit Tigers 8-6 virtue of a three run homer by John Bowker in the eighth inning. This win helped the Giants to overcome a five game loosing streak at home. The Giants rallied from behind with a solid display of powerful hitting in the eighth inning to win the game. The good reviews that the Giants have gathered by this skilful display will interest many fans to buy tickets to the inter league series games against the Tigers. The fans are hoping that the entire team lives up to its expectations and play the sport in the same spirit that they showcased last Monday night.

The 45 year old veteran and ace left handed pitcher of the Philadelphia Phillies, Jamie Moyer was at the right end of his act on Thursday night as he helped his team register its first win against the Florida Marlins in a three game series. The Phillies avoided a clean sweep by the Marlins and their fans were delighted with the outcome of the game. The Phillies manager Charlie Manuel was happy with this win and particularly appreciated the form that Moyer always shows against one of the sport’s better teams, Marlins. The Phillies form has won rare reviews this season will help in the increase of ticket sales for both their home as well as away games. 

The Arizona Diamondbacks, one of favorite baseball teams in the world of sport, could not have written a better script for their game against the New York Mets as they rallied from a 5-1 run deficit to clinch victory in a rain delayed game last Tuesday night. The D Backs in the process of securing a victory from the jaws of defeat have also handed the Mets their fifth straight loss this season. Orlando Hudson’s two run short in the fifth inning started to turn the game in favor of Diamondbacks and then Stephen Drew and Conor Jackson connected well to take the game 9-5. The Diamondbacks fans are very much excited about this victory and many fans are now rushing to buy tickets for their forthcoming games.
