NHL

Filed under: Sports — Paul @ 11:03 am

We have heard plenty of different information about the NBA playoffs for awhile. But now we’re getting into the championship round of the NHL. The cup of Lord Stanley will be at stake over the next week or two and it will be most exciting. Will it be the Red Wings again? Or will the Pittsburgh Penguins be able to hold them off this year? It’s going to be a rematch of last year’s exciting battle and we will be able to have a lot of fun seeing them going at it. How will the Penguins take on an even more talented Detroit team this year? Many commentators are saying that they expect Detroit to win it again. Others are saying that the Penguins are younger and have had a more impressive playoff run so far. Keep watching because this will be a lot of fun.

Lakers Melting?

Filed under: Sports — Paul @ 11:52 am

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to be an interesting team for the next 3 games. They are tied up with the Denver Nuggets at 2 games apiece. The Los Angeles Lakers seem to have an odd kind of Jekyll and Hyde thing going on, where they win one game and then lose one. In other words, they will play an amazing way for a game, winning by 80 points it seems, and then they will be half asleep for a game. They seem to be watching movies before the game and maybe they are still asleep afterwards? But again, they have some very strong games going on too. This is a moment that will be interesting to see and hopefully it will be an exciting final 3 games of the season!

Eastern Conf Finals

Filed under: Sports — Paul @ 2:18 pm

Now that the Eastern Conference Finals are in full swing, they have turned out to be nice and exciting, compared to a lot of the expectations that Orlando would just turn around and run. But the other night, somehow the Magic took the Cavs, big time. Though LeBron James did his best to put on a big show, even hitting a shot from 3/4 down the field at the end of the first half. He was also able to hit a lot of impossible shots and so on for the whole game. The Magic were able to win the game at the end and tied the series up at 1 game each, going back home. It’s going to be a long series, it looks like, and we’ll have to see what they have in store, but has Orlando suddenly found the weak point in the Cavs? Keep watching and we’ll know.

Pitt Never Trailed

Filed under: Sports — Paul @ 10:07 am

When Pittsburgh took on the Carolina Hurricanes last night, they never trailed at any time. The Penguins are coming off an astounding series against the Washington Capitals and they are doing very well right now. They are high and at peak performance levels. They first got 2 goals during the first period and it was a lot of fun for Sidney Crosby and Co. The Hurricanes just weren’t able to hold out or get any more goals and lost 3-2. They put up a good fight and several writers are saying that this series might go a long way. But they will have to play catchup which will be kind of a pain at this point. Get ready for a fun series!

Lakers in the Playoffs

Filed under: Sports — Paul @ 10:39 am

The Los Angeles Lakers are working their way into the Western Conference Finals. But they are also not really making it in any particularly impressive form. For the last couple of weeks, they’ve been playing a Houston Rockets team that’s without several of its best players. Yao Ming left the postseason several games ago, Tracy McGrady is out, and other players are out. But the Lakers have lost 2 of the last 3 since Yao was injured. They can’t seem to put together wins on the road at all and it’s getting to be annoying to those people who are in the city looking for the team to actually make it. They will probably win on Sunday, but it’s going to be tough and then they will have to play the Nuggets, who have bowled over all competition so far.

Favre

Filed under: Sports — Paul @ 9:59 am

Brett Favre has been talking about his possible re-un-retirement for a few weeks. Actually, he hasn’t said much of anything about it, but the NFL discussion has been all about that for the last little while. There are rumors that he’s looking around for another team to make another comeback. And he seems to be looking in the NFC North division, possibly so he can sock it to those Green Bay Packers, by whom he feels much maligned. It’s going to be one of those summers again, it seems. Although his agent and he have both said that he is retired for sure, no one seems to believe them. And the Minnesota Vikings are still making noises that they are still interested in him. Thus, people think that it might be a temporary situation that he’s retired and that he’ll be headed back to the scrimmage at some point. Stay tuned, as they say!

Current MLS Standings

Filed under: Sports — Paul @ 10:58 am

The MLS season is already in full gallop and it’s going to be an exciting one. The expansion team Seattle is in second place in the western conference, just behind Chivas USA. Actually Chivas has a 6-1 record while Seattle has 4-2 and the goal difference is significant. Colorado and Real Salt Lake are right behind them at this point and are playing pretty consistently right now. In the east, DC United and Toronto are in the front position, with the Chicago Fire right behind them. These top teams are all bunched up and seem to have more ties this season than the teams in the west. These teams are strong and able to move forward. But we’ll just have to keep watching to make sure nothing major changes!
