Indianapolis Colts Lose One of Their Best Defensive Ends

Filed under: Baseball, MLB — admin @ 6:08 am

The Indianapolis Colts have lost their defensive end Dwight Freeney till the end of the season. He injured his left foot during the matchup against the San Diego Chargers on last Sunday. The team were two points behind the Charges, and Freeney, while making a spin motion, badly hurt his foot, which caused its dislocation and get him out of the games for quite a long period. Actually it was the midfoot, which will take time to heal. For this period the Colts want to replace Freeny with a defensive end from the Denver Broncos, because he is likely to be sacked by them.

Jacque Jones – Detroit Tigers’ New Acquisition

Filed under: Baseball, Detroit Tigers, MLB — admin @ 5:09 am

Jacque JonesJacque Jones, 32, is a .294 hitter against right-handed pitchers, who averaged 25 home runs and 78 RBIs a season from 2004-2006 before hitting just five homers this year to go with 66 RBIs and a .285 batting average. Having been Tigers’ opponent some time ago, he is now one of the Tigers! Jones was traded by the Cubs, and feels that this deal will be successful for him; according to his words, he is moving from one good team to another good team and to the very good manager. By pulling off the one-for-one swap, the Tigers filled their need for a left-handed bat to add some semblance of balance to a predominantly right-handed lineup. As president/general manager Dave Dombrowski says, Jones is a proven left-handed hitter that can play left field. Therefore the team gained a lot by acquiring him, and we can hope for new and better results.

Giants are in Frustration about their Last Loss

Filed under: Football — admin @ 2:28 pm

On Sunday the Giants lost to the Cowboys with 31-20 score. The loss has driven them in frustration. They may have come third after Dallas and Green Bay in the National Football Conference. Now they will hardly be able to score better place in the playoff in the next seven weeks.

Currently the Giants lag behind the Cowboys. Their rival has the two games advantage over them in the East Division. Thus the Giants are more likely to get to the playoff games as a wild-card team.

Nevertheless, the Giant’s Coach Coughlin tries to stay calm and assures that to win the division is not so important, because their main aim is to reach the play-off games.

Jeremy Roenick’s Success

Filed under: Hockey, NHL, Sports — admin @ 10:25 am

Jeremy RoenickJeremy Roenick, San Jose Sharks center scored his 500th National Hockey League career goal on Saturday in the game against the Phoenix Coyotes. Thus, Roenick became the 40th player to reach the milestone. Actually, it is not surprise, for Roenick has always been known as a good player. However, this goal may seem to some somewhat accidental. Who knows? But it was amazing. Roenick’s goal came 6:35 into the second period against the Coyotes – somehow thanks to a puck that seemingly had a mind of its own. After Roenick had dumped the puck into the right corner, it made a bounce off the boards and struck the right side of the goal. The puck then deflected off the body of Alex Auld, Coyotes goaltender, and there it was on the crease! Auld tried hard to put the puck from the crease, but instead, knocked the puck across the goal line… This action presented Roenick his historical goal. It was a very emotional moment, probably, the most emotional moment throughout the game.
